Description
This course was developed by the Safety Training Consortium, an organization of colleges and universities committed to lab safety. The course fulfills the lab safety requirements of OSHA and equivalent to EH&S Laboratory Standard Course. Contains 5 Modules with Final Exam (all must be passed with 80%): #1&2: Introduction with key elements of rights and responsibilities, concept of risk management, importance of a well-organized lab, the storage of hazards and managing hazardous waste. #3: Focus on hazard recognition and the important role it plays in risk assessment. A survey of physical, chemical and biological hazards while brief mention of ionizing radiation. #4: Introduces the basics of controlling exposure and minimizing risk, engineering controls, administrative controls and personal protective equipment. #5: “Vigilance in the Laboratory”: lab security, emergency planning and emergency response, along with the mental well-being and stress in science laboratories
