Forklift Safety provides employees with information and initial training on fork lift use in their work and mandated by OSHA and NMSU Policy. Prerequisite: Employee Safety Course Contents Include: 1. Intro to regs & NMSU policy on forklift use. 2. Overview of OSHA 1910.178 3. Proper techniques for safe forklift operation 4. Hazards associated with forklift operations 5. Skills assessment Who should attend: All University employees and others who operate fork lifts. Please note that, individuals under 18 years of age are not allowed to operate forklifts (OSHA reference). Training Frequency: Initial training upon job assignment. At minimum, refresher training is required every 3 years.
