Abstract
Are your students frustrated with the division of the workload or effort in group projects? Do you find yourself challenged to fairly assess group work or intervene in group conflicts?
Group communication skills are highly sought after by employers and are required throughout our lives; however, setting up activities that effectively teach these skills to our students can be a challenge. During this workshop we will discuss evidence-based techniques for forming groups, teaching group processes, and creating assignments appropriate for group work. These techniques are founded in psychological research about social loafing and personal motivation.
